Tom Hanks and his wife, actress Rita Wilson, have both been tested positive for Coronavirus. The actor announced it through his Instagram profile. After the couple landed in Australia, they started noticing symptoms including a fever and body aches, and they responsibly decided to get tested.

They are both currently in isolation, as they want to make sure they don’t spread the virus, and are doing well so far. Rita even compiled a “Quarantunes” playlist for those in quarantine, including songs like Survivor by Destiny’s Child, I Want to Break Free by Queen and U Can’t Touch this by MC Hammer 🙂

Harvey Weinstein’s sentence is brutal

Lawyers of the disgraced Hollywood mogul Harvey Weinstein asked for a 5 year punishment, citing his health and age. Instead, he will go to prison for 23 years and will likely spend the rest of his life there. The producer responsible for more than 80 Oscars was sentenced for sexual assault and third-degree rape, and he will be formally registered as a sex offender.

Before the sentencing, Weinstein delivered a long speech where he claimed that the two of his accusers were his close friends, and he clearly didn’t quite understand the severity of his actions. “It is just I’m totally confused and I think men are confused about all of these issues. You know, I just — dealing with the thousands of men and women who are losing due process, I’m worried about this country in a sense too,” he explained. His plea didn’t help, and it’s safe to say that the downfall of one of the most important figures in the history of Hollywood has been finalized.

Did Steven Soderbergh’s Contagion predict the Coronavirus outbreak?

Contagion, a film about a deadly pandemic, has become really popular these days, as people try to understand what the hell is happening with the world right now. As Variety noted, this film is eerily realistic – for example, Dr. Sanjay Gupta played himself in Contagion, where he explained safety measures to the public on the TV. Now, he is doing that in real life as well. We don’t recommend watching this otherwise good film in case you’re trying to keep your spirits up!

Cinema during quarantine?

Sounds really unreasonable, doesn’t it? Well, in the times where only Hollywood could lose 20 billion USD due to Coronavirus, thousands of cinemas are closing – and some are being creative. One example for all: Canadian Cineplex will simply not allow people to sit close to each other – problem (hopefully) solved)!

We’ll also have to wait for some films we were looking forward to: Disney suspended film production, as well as the new movie with Penelope Cruz and Antonio Banderas among many other movies and TV shows. Famous hosts such as James Corden and Ellen DeGeneres are currently not producing their shows either.
